|Collections Manager – Part Time
Haslemere Educational Museum
The Collections Manager will be responsible for overseeing a diverse collection of artefacts from around the world. You will work with the Collections Officer to manage the collections on a day to day basis. This will involve collections care, collections development and undertaking collections related projects.
The Collections Manager will also act as the Volunteer Coordinator, inducting new volunteers into our team. The Museum has a wealth of experienced volunteers, many of them experts in their own fields. In 2015, our volunteers received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Museum, with various significant projects in development. These include a major collaboration with a national wildlife organisation, a book project relating to one of our most high profile collections, the refurbishment of part of our Human History Gallery, and working on a special partnership with a national museum. The Collections Manager will be involved in each of these projects as part of the delivery team. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience, develop professional skills, collaborate on exciting partnerships and contribute to original projects.
We are looking for someone with a qualification in museum studies or equivalent experience and knowledge of professional standards. The candidate must have some experience of managing collections and developing exhibitions. Experience of managing or working with volunteers is desirable. The ability to handle tasks concurrently, prioritise workloads and undertake own administrative tasks is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
