Description: |
The National Museums of Scotland aims to be a world class museums service which educates, informs and inspires. Over the past year, under the leadership of a new Director, we have been redefining our vision and priorities and begun reshaping ourselves as an organisation and how we operate. We intend to enhance our services to the public, improve the quality of our museum sites, find new ways to make our collections publicly accessible and attract a larger and broader audience.
As part of these changes we have created a new Marketing and Development Team. They will play a key role in ensuring that we attract a larger and more diverse audience and in positioning NMS as a leading international museum service.
To achieve our vision to inform, educate and inspire we need someone who is committed to maximising income from grant-making trusts, foundations and similar organisations. We will be looking to you to devise and implement an innovative and carefully targeted programme of fundraising and relationship-building.
You will play a key role in promoting a greater awareness of NMS through the growth of a network of active contacts in both major and smaller trusts. Your background will have been 3-5 years fundraising experience some of which will have been in trusts. You will be able to demonstrate successfully achieving income targets through trust and foundation applications for capital projects and, for example, exhibitions and educational programmes.

| Required Skills: |
| You will be qualified to degree level. A qualification in marketing, public relations or fundraising is also desirable. A creative and lateral thinker you will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills. You must be able to work both individually and as part of a team, and have a genuine interest in culture, education, visitor attractions or the voluntary sector. |
