| Established in 1983, the Scottish Maritime Museum is recognised as the principal repository for material relating to Scottish Maritime history, in particular, shipbuilding and marine engineering. By working with key personnel, the Volunteer Manager will develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer roles within the organisation. By providing direction, co-ordination, and training for all volunteers the outcome will be to develop partnership working and increase audience participation. The scope of the post involves both daily tasks of managing volunteers and the strategic planning and direction of a volunteer programme. The programme objective will be to evaluate and assess the contribution of volunteers and communicate volunteers’ input and identify future needs to key stakeholders such as partner organisations, government and corporate funders.

| Required Skills: |
General
You will have an organised and methodical approach to your work, with an eye for detail. You will also have the ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and to use your own initiative.
Essential qualifications:
• Graduate in a relevant discipline, ideally with a postgraduate qualification, or workplace experience, in museum/heritage or voluntary work
• Experience or qualifications in volunteer management.
• IOSH training or equivalent Health & Safety awareness.
• Practical manual handling skills.
Desirable qualifications:
• An interest or background in maritime, industrial or social history
• An interest in collections care
• Own transport |
