Job Description:
You will play a key role in delivering National Museums Scotland’s science engagement programme by planning and running science outreach and engagement activities for schools, families and community groups. Managed by the Community Engagement Manager (Learning & Programmes Department), you will assist the Science Engagement Manager, community engagement and learning staff to develop new activities by identifying and consulting with target audiences and partner museums to understand their needs. You will consult and develop links with external experts in order to contribute to programme development and you will report on, monitor and evaluate science engagement activities.

This one-year part-time post is based in the Learning and Programmes Department but you will work closely with the Science & Technology Department and other departments across National Museums Scotland.
Required Skills:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a science related subject, you will have current knowledge of the wider learning environment, especially developments in community and audience engagement. An understanding of the potential of museum science and technology collections as resources for learning for community groups and under-represented audiences is also essential, as is creative thinking, proven interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Experience of working in a relevant science learning environment is also a requirement of this post.
