Job Description:
Brighton & Hove Cultural Trust

Chair and Trustees

About the role

The City of Brighton & Hove is unrivalled for its distinctive architecture, artistic innovation and social tolerance. The Royal Pavilion, the only former royal palace owned by a local authority, is recognised the world over as a building of international significance and has become the emblem of the city.

The City Council manages the Royal Pavilion & Museums. To safeguard the future of the service it is establishing a charitable trust for its operation and future development. We are now seeking to appoint a Shadow Board of independent trustees to guide the inception of this new organisation. The trust is seen as a significant step towards the future aim of creating a dynamic, resilient cultural and heritage trust for the city, bringing together RPM and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival in a single entity.

About you

This is an exciting voluntary opportunity to help shape the structure, governance, and ways of working of this new trust. We are looking to appoint a diverse board and welcome applications from all sections of the community. You will have an understanding and passion for heritage, museums and collections and their social role and purpose. You will have demonstrable experience in culture, arts and heritage or have professional qualifications and experience in areas such as legal, charity finance, property or transformational change.

About us

Prospective trustees who have questions may book a time to meet with the Executive Director Economy, Environment & Culture and the Head of the Royal Pavilion & Museums from 17.00-20.00 on Tuesday 25 April 2017. Interviews will be held on Monday 15 May.
