Job Description:
Director of Learning
Science Museum Group - Multiple Locations
£78,000 - £85,000 + benefits

The Science Museum Group (SMG)'s mission is to 'Inspire Futures' and our five Museums are a key national resource. With unparalleled collections in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEM), the Group is uniquely placed to draw people of all ages to engage with science in an inspirational and informal way. With over 600,000 of the Group's nearly 6 million visitors each year coming in booked education groups, we also have an extraordinary capacity to open people's minds to the creativity and wonder of science.

As Director of Learning your work will sit at the heart of our mission, advocating SMG's role in delivering learning for diverse national audiences to funders, policy-makers and other influencers. Building SMG into a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence for informal science learning, you will help to reinvent our digital learning offer and establish us as a leading provider of online and interactive STEM resources. You will support the organisation's ambitions through new commercial opportunities in learning delivery, working with Museum Directors to consolidate the strength and reach of the group-wide offer.

In addition to experience of managing and motivating large, geographically disparate teams with matrix relationships, you will be able to successfully manage a wide range of stakeholders on complex projects and programmes. You will have experience of designing, embedding and managing a learning strategy across a large multidisciplinary organisation and a strong understanding of how to develop a digital learning offer. The ability to communicate effectively, prioritise expertly and resolve unexpected issues efficiently will also be key in this role.

You will be offered excellent benefits, including 30 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme, BUPA medical and dental care, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
