JOB DESCRIPTION

Post Title: Fundraising and Sponsorship Coordinator
Salary: £22,000 pro rata
Contract: 1 year Fixed Term, Part-time position 21 hrs (0.6 FTE)
Reports To: Marketing Manager

BACKGROUND

National Mining Museum Scotland is the national body responsible for the preservation and interpretation of Scotland’s Mining Heritage. Our core purpose is to preserve our internationally important collection and estate through encouraging and supporting a wide ranging audience through access and participation in visitor experiences and developing learning resources.

PURPOSE OF POST

To support NMMS in all aspects of fundraising and sponsorship to include, conducting an audit of potential fundraising and sponsorship sources for NMMS. The post will also build relationships and networks and explore new fundraising opportunities from various sources, such as grant awards, trusts and foundations and statutory bodies and contribute to capital development project bids to organisations such as HLF and HES.

To be the point of contact for and build relationships with organisations such as Museums Galleries Scotland, Heritage Lottery Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland, Creative Scotland, Esme Fairbairn, and Arts and Business in relation to accessing fundraising opportunities and training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Establish a fundraising and sponsorship database that gives an overview of potential fundraising and sponsorship sources and follow due diligence in ensuring the database is kept up to date
 Support the Chief Executive and NMMS management team to develop and deliver key funding bids such as large scale capital bids to the Heritage Lottery and Historic Environment Scotland.
 Support the Chief Executive and NMMS management team in establishing fundraising targets.
 Cultivate and build strong relationships with potential stakeholders, partners and potential donors to support the fundraising campaigns.
 Improve, devise and organise fundraising campaigns, such as NMMS Undercroft fundraising campaign.
 Identify fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of the role of NMMS at a local and national level.
 Set up online donations platform and embedding this in our marketing and publicity materials.
 Manage project specific administration including, preparing funding reports, managing project accounts, liaising with partners.
 Write and develop applications and proposals communicating targets, strategic ambitions and project plans.
 Develop initiatives that encourage visitors to NMMS to donate on site and at fundraising events.
 Complying with NMMS policies and procedures.
 Undertaking any other tasks required to fulfil the duties of this role.

We are looking for a flexible person to join our team as a Fundraising and Sponsorship Coordinator to support NMMS in all aspects of fundraising and sponsorship. Responsibilities will include conducting an audit of potential fundraising and sponsorship sources that NMMS can access, delivering a fundraising and sponsorship strategy, building relationships and networks, exploring new fundraising opportunities from various sources, such as grant awards, trusts and foundations and statutory bodies and contributing to capital development project bids to organisations such as HLF and HES.
