Job Title:     Collections Officer
Organisation:     Clandon Park - National Trust
Salary:     £18,731 p.a.
Type:     Full-Time Position
Location:     Guildford, England
Closing Date:     Sunday, August 6th, 2017
Job Ref No:     IRC54273
Job Description:
Collections Officer
Permanent f/t (37.5 hrs pw)

Following a devastating fire at Clandon in 2015, the National Trust is embarking on its most significant restoration project in a generation by returning parts of the house to its 18th-century glory whilst at the same time creating a building of beauty and relevance for the 21st century. At this important time in Clandon’s history, you'll be working with the materials rescued from the fire, managing the collection, their storage and movements using our National Trust collections management system.

What it's like to work here
Clandon Park, is a Grade 1 Palladian mansion in Surrey, former home of the politically ambitious Onslow family. Many significant items were saved on the night of the fire and many more were salvaged afterwards. Clandon Park will be rebuilt and an international architects’ competition to select a design team to work with us on this ambitious project is underway and will finish in the autumn.

What you'll be doing
This is a rare opportunity to be part of the biggest restoration and conservation project in a generation for the National Trust. As the Collections Officer, you'll be directly responsible for a team of volunteers, managing them to support you in this vital work. Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Curator as well as the CMS super-user, you'll work across the Clandon, Hatchlands and Wisley hub sites.

You'll manage the stores, where our collections are kept, ensuring that the collections are safe, and meet all the regulations for their security and fire prevention systems. You will also work with suppliers and contractors to ensure environmental conditions that allow for the safe storage of our treasured collection. As you will be managing the storage of every item and cataloguing, an eye for attention to detail and experience of managing collections is important.
