Job Description:
Freelance Interpretation Consultant – Museum for Birmingham project

Fee Guidance: £20,000 (including travel and subsistence)
Term of contract: October 2017 to December 2018
Location: Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (may also be required to work at other BMT sites and offsite locations in Birmingham)

Birmingham Museums Trust is looking to appoint a freelance consultant to lead on the development for the collection interpretation for the museum redisplay, informing the brief for the Display Design and Architectural development. The Interpretation Consultant is required to develop an Interpretation Plan and outline Audience Development/Activity Plan as supporting documents in a Stage 1 application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Subject to further funding, the plans will be developed in more detail during the next, Heritage Lottery Fund Development Stage of the project.
Required Skills:
You should have experience of interpretation planning for museum gallery projects and be familiar with the requirements of Heritage Lottery Fund applications. Your approach should be audience-focused and you should have experience of engaging with diverse communities through consultation and co-production.
