The Royal Air Force Museum is a National Museum that tells the story of the RAF through its people and collections. It has three sites (London, Cosford and Stafford) and a trading company which supplements its funding which comes principally from the Ministry of Defence.

The Senior Exhibits Technician is an exciting new opportunity at the Museum. You will join a dedicated and hardworking team of technicians, apprentices and volunteers in the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre (MBCC), playing a key role in the delivery of vibrant new permanent exhibitions at our London and Cosford sites.

You will assist in the development and delivery of large object conservation and movement programmes. Working closely with other departments you will play an active role in supporting the installation of exhibits in new galleries and the development of new and diverse approaches to object restoration and access. You will support a range of activities to preserve collections whilst promoting wider access to the RAF story, engaging volunteers and the public with the Museum’s unique heritage engineering and conservation activities.

An aircraft or general engineering qualification or equivalent experience, along with demonstrable experience of large object maintenance and logistic with an engineering or heritage environment, are essential requirements.

The post will be based in Cosford, West Midlands. Weekend working and travel between museum sites in the UK and abroad will be necessary.
