If so, then the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is looking for you!

The Dr. Robert N. Mayer Director of Learning and Public Programs is charged with the leadership, strategy, and direction for all the MCA’s programs and activities around learning. These programs will further the museum’s mission and keep the MCA at the forefront of the contemporary museum field. The Director will:

• Integrate education, public programs, and interpretation strategy to provide dynamic learning opportunities for our audiences.
• Manage day-to-day department operations including budget, personnel, and quarterly Learning and Public Programs Committee meetings.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to build cross-disciplinary programming that addresses multiple audiences and multiple learning styles.
• Foster relationships with Learning and Public Programs Committee members, trustees, volunteers, and other key figures.
• Conceive and implement programs that continue to attract broader and more diverse audiences.

Required Skills:
Desired qualifications include a Master’s degree in art history, education, humanities, or a related field; a minimum 7-10 years of education-related experience with at least 2-3 years at senior management level, and:

• Experience working in a museum.
• A background in twentieth century/contemporary art.
• Proven record in developing and implementing high quality, innovative programs for various audiences from school age to general and specialist adult.
• Visibility and stature in the visual arts education and learning community.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to generate financial support in partnership with the Development department.
• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, with nights and weekends as needed to oversee programs and participate in other museum activities. General mobility throughout all museum properties is required.
