Job Description:
The Royal Air Force Museum is a National Museum that tells the story of the RAF through its people and collections. It has three sites (London, Cosford and Stafford) and a trading company which supplements its funding which comes principally from the Ministry of Defence.

The Collections Assistant will play a crucial role in the Museum’s Collections Development and RAF Centenary Programmes through a range of activities to ensure the effective management of collections and the promotion of wider access and engagement.

In support of the Museum’s strategic objectives and Accreditation commitments the successful candidate will enable the Museum to develop and focus collections for public benefit. This work will include documenting and assessing collections to facilitate future collection and storage reviews.

The post will be based in Colindale, NW London. Travel between the Museum three sites will be necessary so the post holder will need to possess a full, clean driving license.
Required Skills:
The post holder will also support the development and delivery of new permanent exhibitions as part of the Museum’s RAF Centenary Programme. The right candidate must be educated to degree level or have an equivalent level of experience working with museum and/or heritage collections. In addition, the post holder will be able to demonstrate on their application a comprehensive understanding of collections management and care standards.
