Job Description:
National Mining Museum Scotland is a 5 star visitor attraction based in Newtongrange, Midlothian. It cares for and interprets the Lady Victoria Colliery and the Scottish coal mining collections, collecting and preserving objects from all the Scottish coalfields.

We are currently seeking a Fundraising and Sponsorship Co-ordinator to support NMMS in all aspects of fundraising and sponsorship. Responsibilities will include conducting an audit of potential fundraising and sponsorship sources, building relationships and networks, exploring new fundraising sources such as grant awards, trusts, foundations, statutory bodies and contributing to capital development project bids to organisations such as HLF and HES.
Required Skills:

• Establish a fundraising and sponsorship database that gives an overview of potential fundraising and sponsorship sources, such as funding bodies, charities, trusts and foundations.
• Establish a database of potential project partners in the heritage, museum and education sector.
• Seek potential sources of sponsorship as a new funding stream for NMMS, to include corporate sponsorship
• Work with the Marketing and Events Manager to promote NMMS as an attractive venture to sponsor.
• Seek best practice and current trends in approaching fundraising and sponsorship campaigns.


• Advise on and identify fundraising opportunities for projects and capital developments at NMMS.
• Ensure that NMMS is compliant with new data protection legislation (GDPR).
• Support NMMS to develop and deliver funding bids.
• Administer externally funded projects including preparing funding bids and reports, managing project accounts and liaising with project and/or funding partners.
• Support NMMS in establishing fundraising targets.
• Cultivate and build relationships with potential stakeholders, partners and potential donors to support the fundraising campaigns.
• Assist with the devising and organising of fundraising campaigns for NMMS along with NMMS management team and Board of Trustees.
• Set up online donations platform to be embedded in NMMS marketing and publicity materials.
• Develop initiatives that encourage NMMS visitors to donate on site and at fundraising events.
• Comply with NMMS policies and procedures.
• Undertake any other tasks required to fulfil the duties of this role.
