Job Description:
Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the Strategic Development Body for museums and galleries in Scotland. The organisation also acts as their champions. There are more than 400 museums and galleries in Scotland operating as the custodians of the country’s rich and diverse history and acting as centres of community life and engagement which offer unique and personal experiences to visitors. MGS promotes the sector’s work to the Scottish Government, stakeholders and public, and advocates the public value and contribution of museums and galleries to society.

The Board of Museums Galleries Scotland is now seeking exceptional candidates for the role of Chief Executive Officer. This is a time of strategic change and renewal for the organisation and the new CEO will play a key role in taking this forward. Candidates will bring a knowledge and understanding of the museums and galleries sector. They will be an inspiring leader, able to effectively manage a small team and build a supportive and high performing working culture. They will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and be able to represent MGS and the sector with gravitas.
