Job Description:
The British Museum is looking to recruit an energetic and dedicated individual to join the team creating the Museum’s new research and storage facility, the British Museum Archaeological Research Collection. The BM_ARC is where the Museum’s world-renowned collections of ancient sculpture, mosaics, archaeological assemblages and historic casts will be stored and made available to the public and for research.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced individual with a strong track record in museums and archaeological fieldwork to shape the future of the Museum’s archaeological collections.

You will play a key management role in preparing the Museum’s collection of British and world archaeological assemblages to be moved from their current location in London to the new facility near Reading, and in developing the Museum’s major new research partnership with the University of Reading, intended to encourage innovative research and increase access to the collection for researchers, students and the general public.

You will also work together with expert curators and others across the Museum to plan the future distribution of collections in store across the estate.
Required Skills:
The successful candidate will hold at minimum an undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in Archaeology or another relevant subject and have experience of managing archaeological collections in a museum context and of archaeological fieldwork.
