Job Description:
Glasgow Life
Museums Learning, Interpretation and Engagement Manager (re-advertisement)

Glasgow Museums has a rare and exciting opportunity for a Museums Learning, Interpretation and Engagement Manager to embed best practice in museum interpretation and engagement across the service.  Glasgow is home to world-class galleries and exhibitions and your role will pivotal in leading the museums service to facilitate a more inclusive audience development programme.  You’ll provide strategic direction to innovate and develop new practice in accessible exhibition design and public programming for a wide range of audiences and will manage resources and programmes to connect the museums service to the increasing diversity of the city, as well as leading, developing and motivating the Learning and Engagement team.

Your expert knowledge of developing audiences, engagement programmes and museum interpretation practices means that you’ll ensure a consistent high standard of interpretation.  Experience of building learning opportunities for a wide range of audiences is critical, as you will work with communities to improve programme design and develop programming and indicators that contribute to an improvement of health and wellbeing and employability, addressing inequalities, worklessness and isolation.  Your experience of working within a cross disciplinary service will enable you to facilitate closer working between the relevant museum teams and stakeholders.  Building sector relationships will come naturally to you and you’ll use these skills to manage and develop networks and relationships to maximise opportunities for funding and income generation.

With the vast museums learning agenda to be delivered, it is vital that you have significant experience within a leadership role in a cultural organisation along with a commitment to delivering accessible museum services.

In return, we offer an opportunity to join the Strathclyde Pension Fund, generous holiday entitlement, annual leave purchase scheme, childcare vouchers, staff discounts (including Glasgow Club), flexible retirement, family friendly policies, flu vaccination programme and career break policy.

At Glasgow Life we value diversity and inclusion.  We are particularly interested in receiving applications from BAME groups who are currently under-represented in our organisation.

Please note this is a re advertisement and previous applicants should not re-apply.
