Job Description:
The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web.

Touring Exhibitions plays a key role in the global reach of Natural History Museum generating soft power opporunities and connecting Natural History Museum to Museums worldwide through a range of temporary exhibition partnerships.

We are now seeking a Head of Touring Exhibitions to cover for the maternity leave of the current postholder.

You will be leading and growing the Natural History Museum’s Touring Exhibitions business – maximising profit margins, attracting larger audiences and measurably increasing public engagement with the Museum’s core narratives. This in turn will generate revenue for the Museum while helping fulfill the Museum’s larger international strategy and mission. The role manages and develops a multi-disciplinary team that includes sales, operations, creative and technical roles.

To be successful in this role, you will be degree (or equivalent qualification) educated or have demonstrable and significant experience in a similar role. You will have experience of leading a sales-led business, with a track record in exceeding sales targets.

You will be confident in negotiating at senior level and have the ability to write compelling business plans based on thorough market and process analysis, with experience commissioning exhibitions and acting in a client role during creative development. Significant experience of financial/sales management (£1m+ turnover) is a must.

This is a 6 months fixed term contract role.
