Job Description:
We are seeking a Duty Manager to join our team on the Royal Pavilion Estate. The iconic Royal Palace, Brighton Museum and the Royal Pavilion garden welcome in excess of 4 million visitors each year and this role is key in delivering an excellent customer experience.

The Duty Manager is one of three post holders who share the day to day responsibility for visitor services and the security of the buildings, monitoring the welfare of visitors and contractors on the estate and leading our frontline visitor services, retail and security teams.

The candidate must have practical experience in managing and motivating a large team and be prepared to work 12 hour shifts on a rolling shift pattern; a knowledge of and a passion for historic buildings as well as significant experience of working in and running a security control room; an enthusiasm for our retail offer and awareness of museums is also essential in this exciting and varied role.

A positive attitude to cultural change and a willingness to lead and support staff is essential as the Royal Pavilion estate moves into a trust status in 2020
Required Skills:
- Willingness to attain BTEC Managing Security Systems
- Security Industry Authority qualified
- Extensive knowledge of technical and security management standards of historic buildings, museums and public buildings
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of security theory and practices including risk crisis management
- Extensive knowledge regarding the technical specifications and standards of the infrastructure of fire and security equipment within a control room environment
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of alarm receiving centres and police response requirements.
- Awareness of legislation relating to trespass, theft, assault, criminal damage and arrest procedures
- Awareness of conservation & security issues in relation to museum artefacts and historic houses
- Knowledge of legislation supporting Health & Safety and access for disabled visitors in public places

- Significant experience of working in a security role and risk/crisis management, including developing strategy in a multifunctional, challenging and changing environment
- Experience of cashiering and cash security
- Proven practical experience of managing and motivating a team
- Proven experience of working with a broad range of customers with a diverse range of needs

Skills & Abilities
- Excellent customer care skills and able to engage well with the public
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to build positive working relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to keep clear and accurate records
- Good organisational and time-management skills with proven ability to work well under pressure
- Good problem solving skills and ability to use initiative
