Job Description:
The British Museum is seeking a Collection Manager: Care and Access within the Collection Directorate to manage the work of a team of Assistant Collection Managers to deliver Museum projects and lead on the daily care of the collections.

This role is primarily concerned with managing a team and programme of work focused on the maintenance of stores and permanent displays, object handling and documentation, and operation of study rooms for the Africa, Oceania and Americas collections. The role may also include preparing objects for display and loans including installation and packing, and working on deadline driven storage and larger scale object move projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant practical experience of object/art handling and installation in a museum or similar environment. Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, you will be able to manage budgets and timetables effectively in order to successfully deliver a varied programme of work.

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have strong communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence others effectively. With excellent leadership skills, you will motivate your team and work flexibly as part of a wide, multi-disciplinary team across multiple sites.
