Job Description:
Bletchley Park is seeking an experienced exhibition interpretation developer for a new, large-scale permanent exhibition project on a 23-month, fixed-term contract. You will lead on interpretation development, telling the story of the final, intelligence-factory phase of Bletchley Park’s vital World War Two contribution. In this role, you will develop creative and audience-focused interpretation that inspires visitors of all ages, bringing our story to life in the place where it happened.

Part of a fast-paced project team, you will work closely with stakeholders across Exhibitions, Research, Collections, Site Works, Marketing, and Learning, as well as the exhibition design team and other suppliers, to see the project to completion. You’ll need enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, attention to detail and a love of telling stories. The successful candidate will be a highly capable professional with significant previous experience of exhibition interpretation, a great team player who has worked in cross-functional teams, and an excellent written and spoken communicator. The role will report to the Head of Collections and Exhibitions.
Required Skills:
1. Degree with minimum grade second class (equivalent qualification or relevant experience)
2. Qualification in Heritage or Museum Studies (equivalent qualification or significant relevant experience)
3. Significant experience of exhibition content and / or interpretation development in object-rich displays in a museum, gallery, heritage or similar environment
4. Proven experience of audience evaluation and access provision in a museum context
5. Excellent communication skills, including a strong track record of delivering presentations and exhibition text writing for a variety of audiences
6. Ability and confidence to manage, influence and inspire stakeholders and team members at all levels, and find appropriate solutions to conflicting priorities
7. Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, including tasks undertaken by others, whilst ensuring deadlines are met
8. Adept at problem-solving, thinking beyond the immediate issue to broader impacts and organisational goals
9. Shows creativity and imagination in working on projects and engaging visitors
