Job Description:
The Education & Outreach Officer supports the Head of Education to develop an education and outreach programme for Chelsea Physic Garden. This programme directly supports our mission to demonstrate the medicinal, economic, cultural and environmental importance of plants to the well-being of humankind.

The post holder will balance direct delivery, alongside the strategic management of our outreach programme, and supporting departmental fundraising. We deliver sessions onsite, offsite and digitally, with a growing focus on work at the Elkstone Road Community Garden.
Required Skills:
• Demonstrable knowledge of gardening or horticulture.
• Good understanding of natural history, conservation and ecology.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals, including children and vulnerable adults
• Confidence to create new ideas and content
• Project management experience
• Ability to write, produce and distribute regular newsletters and reports
• IT skills to update database and contribute to the website and digital educational resources
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
• Freelancer/ contractor management
• PGCE qualification
• Classroom-based teaching experience at either Primary or Secondary school level and/or teaching experience at either a Museum or Horticultural site.
