About Us
The Natural History Museum (NHM) is a world-class visitor attraction, leading science research centre and commercial event space. We use our unique collections and unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million specimens, both in our London and Tring museums, spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.

Our vision is of a future where both people and planet thrive. Our mission is to create advocates for the planet and our aim to engage and involve the widest possible audience.

We are at a pivotal moment in our history as we seek to appoint Head of National Programmes. We will soon launch a new strategy setting out our role as the natural world faces increasing threats. Building on our world-leading collection, global reputation for science and as one of the world’s leading visitor attractions, the NHM has ambitious plans leading up to the 150 anniversary of the opening of the Waterhouse Building in 2031, making this a truly exciting time to be part of the NHM team.

About the role
You will be responsible for delivering our ambitions within the UK, utilising the strengths of our collections, science research and working through partnerships.

Leading the development and management of the Museum’s national partnerships, you will be working strategically with internal and external stakeholders to develop impactful programmes and activities that deliver great benefits for audiences and institutions. You will also deliver national partnerships’ strategy, and will work with colleagues across the Museum and with external stakeholders in order to build understanding and impact of NHM’s UK work.

About you
With substantial experience of building and brokering partnerships with a broad range of partners for mutual benefit and positive impact for public, you will also possess in-depth knowledge of developing and delivering successful and collaborative strategies that are aligned to organisational objectives.

A good understanding of current cultural sector issues and government policy affecting museums will see you succeed in this role.
