Job Description:
The Cartoon Museum in London has reopened in Wells Street, W1, in exciting new premises after a 6 month, £1M refurbishment.

The museum is recruiting a Curator. The successful applicant will be responsible for the museum collection and libraries and for the origination and delivery of our exhibitions, publications, oversight of learning and participation programmes. The role includes all aspects of acquisition, documentation, conservation, research, publication and development.

The Museum
The Museum has a nationally important collection of 6,000 pieces of original cartoon art, comics and caricature, and a library of 14,000 books and comics.

With a small team of staff and volunteers the Museum has established itself as the pre-eminent organisation in the UK for collecting and conserving the best examples of Britain’s heritage in cartoons, caricature and comics and bringing them to a wider audience. The museum has an unparalleled record of diverse exhibitions, and a well-established and popular learning programme engaging 2,500 children each year.
Required Skills:
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated curator with a good record of organising exhibitions and working with museum collections.

We require a good communicator who can work with others as part of a team and develop good relationships with stakeholders. You will have a genuine interest the history and practice of cartoons, comic art, caricatures and animation. You will have a strong interest in the collections and objectives of the Cartoon Museum and a strong desire to share its resources with a wide and a diverse audience.
