About Us
The Natural History Museum (NHM) is a world-class visitor attraction, leading science research centre and commercial event space. We use our unique collections and unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million specimens, both in our London and Tring museums, spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.

We are at a pivotal moment in our history as we will soon launch a new strategy setting out our role as the natural world faces increasing threats. Building on our world-leading collection, global reputation for science and as one of the world’s leading visitor attractions, the NHM has ambitious plans leading up to the 150 anniversary of the opening of the Waterhouse Building in 2031, making this a truly exciting time to be part of the NHM team.

About the role
Our Senior Interpretation Developer is responsible for coordinating, developing and delivering interpretation for the Natural History Museum’s Gallery Enhancement Programme. You will work across a whole programme of projects, ensuring that from concept to delivery, each project creates an impactful upgrade to existing spaces and galleries.

Working closely with colleagues across the Museum, including researchers, curators and senior managers, you will lead on developing gallery content, making sure it is based on relevant science and research, across multiple projects. You will also work closely with the Project Manager and Technical Lead, to ensure the whole project is on time and budget and that the scope does not grow beyond the original agreements.

This post will help to prioritise the GE projects across the Museum, identifying which will have the greatest visitor impact. It will develop the Brief and the Interpretation Plan for the agreed works and ensure they are passed through the correct governance structure. They will be asked to represent the project at a more senior level including on occasion MPG. They may also have to matrix manage different staff and commission different work from other members of the Exhibition team.

About you
As part of a fast-paced interpretation team, you will need enthusiasm, creativity, attention to detail and an ability to see projects to completion. The successful candidate will have previous experience in Museum (or similar) content and interpretation.
