About Us
The Natural History Museum (NHM) is a world-class visitor attraction, leading science research centre and commercial event space. We use our unique collections and unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million specimens, both in our London and Tring museums, spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.

Our purpose is to inspire a love of our natural world and to help unlock answers to the big issues facing humanity and the planet. We want to help people across the UK to experience a connection with the nature they encounter every day, wherever they live and whoever they are.

The NHM will lead a participative programme of science and learning activities across the country to connect people with urban nature, entitled the Urban Nature Project. The project’s comprehensive national programme will provide the skills, opportunities and digital tools for a wide audience to better understand, manage and protect urban biodiversity, including resources, training, activities, and research. Partnerships will be central to our approach, with relationships built across the UK, with national biodiversity-focused organisations, youth groups, museums and schools. In addition to connecting people with urban nature on a national scale, this project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the NHM Gardens. This will enhance our visitor welcome and experience at South Kensington by engaging visitors in key content areas around evolution, UK biodiversity and human impact

About the role
This is a central role within the Urban Nature Project. You will develop and pilot initiatives that create an innovative and dynamic new learning offer for young people and youth workers, working in partnership with a national youth organisation. You will also plan a new seasonal volunteering offer for young people to create routes to employment in natural heritage.

About you
The successful candidate will have experience of working closely with young people aged 11-24 in a youth work or wildlife organisation to develop and deliver successful and imaginative learning experiences, and will have a good understanding of volunteer engagement.
