Do you have in a passion for building communities and improving wellbeing?

In April 2018 Heritage Doncaster became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. History, Health and Happiness is a programme of work that aims to tackle individual and community isolation and improve wellbeing in four key deprived areas of Doncaster, using museum collections and storytelling as its basis.

We are working with academic partners to evaluate the health and wellbeing outcomes of our work. It is anticipated that the results of this evaluation will be published as part of the growing body of research into the contribution that museums can make to health and wellbeing.

Heritage Doncaster is a transforming service consisting of Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery, Cusworth Hall Museum & Park, the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Museum, Archives and Local Studies Library. It is an exciting time as we are working towards the opening of a new Library, Museum and Art Gallery in Summer 2020

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with communities and volunteers. They should have experience of creating and delivering activities for adult audiences and a knowledge of the needs and requirements of this audience. An understanding of how to work with museum objects is an asset, but not essential. In the first instance we are looking for someone that enjoys working with people and demonstrates a passion for community engagement.
