Job Description:
Are you experienced in museum collections? Can you manage and oversee a project?

The Science and Industry Museum in Manchester is embarking on an exciting masterplan to redevelop buildings and galleries on the historic site. This means moving parts of the collection from Manchester to the Group0 National Collections Centre at Wroughton in Wiltshire for safekeeping during redevelopment.

As Senior Conservator, you will manage the decant of the Air and Space gallery, ensuring movement and packing of this unique collection follows best practice to meet strategic and statutory requirements. You,l be involved in planning, monitoring and executing conservation activity, primarily working with large objects. You will liaise with colleagues in Wroughton and transport contractors to ensure safe and timely movement of the collection, whilst managing the Conservator and Collections Assistants for the project, by setting on clear objectives and providing feedback.

Joining us, you will bring strong experience of working with museum collections. You,l be able to manage a project; coordinate schedules, manage logistics and liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the project runs smoothly and to deadline. As a Senior Conservator, you,l be able to lead your team to champion conservation positively and with enthusiasm.
