Job Description: |
Your registrar skills could be integral to the development of Tate’s programme as we look forward to opening the Tate St Ives extension. Joining us at a significant point in our evolution, it’s a chance to be part of a national gallery team while living and working in rural Cornwall.
The aim of Tate is to increase public awareness, understanding and enjoyment of British art from the 16th century to the present day, and of international modern and contemporary art. Tate St Ives also manages the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden as an integral part of its work.
As Registrar at Tate St Ives you will be a key member of the Programme Team. Your skills and experience will inform pivotal decisions in the exhibition making process. You will organise and manage the packing, transport and insurance arrangements for works of art on loan to temporary exhibitions, displays and international exhibition tours. This means working to strict deadlines, to international museum standards and to lenders’ specifications, all as cost effectively as possible. You will be responsible for internal and external liaison to facilitate smooth and efficient scheduling. You will also manage and update the exhibitions records and the loan agreements process.

| Required Skills: |
| You’ll need a degree in art history, fine art or a related subject, along with training and experience in the registrar function. This includes project management, contract administration and budgetary management. The ability to negotiate loan agreements and to work collaboratively with other galleries and institutions is essential, as are highly developed communication skills. Experience of national museum or gallery documentation systems and processes would be useful. |
