Job Description: |
The Audain Art Museum is now under construction in the world renowned four-season resort community of Whistler, 115 km north of Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded by Michael Audain and his wife Yoshiko Karasawa, and funded by their family foundation, the class A museum will occupy an arresting structure designed by Patkau Architects. (See www.audainartmuseum.com for more information).
The museum will be a permanent home for part of the Audain Collection, which was the subject of a major exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2011 and features an important representation of indigenous and contemporary British Columbia art, including a large group of Emily Carr paintings. The museum will also have galleries for temporary exhibitions of Canadian and international art.
The Director, reporting to the Board, will provide leadership for all aspects of the museum’s operation. This will include shaping its vision and strategic plan, program development, financial management, fundraising, and maximizing revenue streams. The Director will be the public face and chief spokesperson for the museum, representing it to a wide range of stakeholders.
