Job Title:    Trustee Board Member
Organisation:    Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome Trust
Type:    Volunteer Part-Time Position ((Hours vary))
Location:    Maldon, England
Closing Date:    Wednesday, September 1st, 2021
Job Ref No:    SMGWA140521
Job Description:
Passion. Commitment. Dedication.
These are the traits that the men and women of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome (SMGWA) exhibited in 1917 – and they are what we need now.
This internationally significant, Grade 2* Listed heritage site, hidden deep in the beautiful Essex Countryside, has jumped onto the national stage recently – garnering award after award in recognition of its achievements. From plucking unique buildings from the jaws of collapse with award-winning conservation to the Royal acknowledgement of its hugely successful volunteering program, the Aerodrome is a symbol of pride for Essex and its wider region. Its exhibitions are hugely popular, and the events program a stalwart slot in the calendar for all residents of Essex and those further afield.
In the post-COVID Heritage landscape, SMGWA are now looking to build on the great momentum the team has built; momentum that has helped them step forward with confidence from the shadow of lockdown. The Chair of the Board is now looking for the right Trustees to help steer his award-winning management team, replacing those that have reached the end of their permitted tenure.
It could be you - joining a winning team of men and women with wide and varied skills and experiences, but one shared goal. To safeguard the future of this unique site, forever.

Our Trustees presently meet online on a bi-monthly basis, with appropriate committees meeting 4-6 times per year in addition to this. Naturally, there would be an understanding that some visits to the site would made to support the team, although this is very much informally arranged.

The Trust is registered as a charity and a limited company. Every trustee is also a director of the company. More information on this is available on application.
