Job Description |

It's bringing future generations closer to a fascinating past
It’s becoming part of something special. And it’s the satisfaction of interpreting and presenting one of the world’s greatest art collections. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so different.
Unique in both quality and diversity, the Royal Collection has a fascinating history, and our Learning Section is responsible for sharing its stories with the broadest possible audience.
The position is fixed term for 12 months, with the possibility of extension or permanency following a review of the Learning programme that is currently taking place.
You'll manage a dedicated team of Learning professionals, delivering an innovative and varied set of programmes for adults, schools and family visitors at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Key Responsibilities
• You will develop and implement the learning strategy at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, ensuring a high quality of delivery across all our programmes.
• Working closely with colleagues across Royal Collection Trust, you'll assess and develop current learning activities, oversee daily operations and manage the promotion of the programme.
• You will create a diverse and innovative adult learning programme, both online and in-person, to enhance our event offerings.
• Building strong relationships with schools, teaching organisations and local authorities will be key to your success. You'll look to extend the reach and diversity of local schools and target underrepresented communities, collaborating with them to uncover new opportunities.
• Managing the Learning team, you will guide and support those around you, encouraging them to develop their skills and expertise.
• You’ll also work alongside curatorial and visitor teams to develop multimedia tours and resources for the visitor route and exhibitions.
• You will set and manage the learning budget, contributing to budget planning and review processes, as well as feeding into the wider Learning strategy with teams from other locations.
• With strategic and creative leadership, you will engage the public with the Collection and historic Palace. Most of all you’ll be proud to bring the Royal Collection closer to a growing audience.
Essential Criteria:
• Educated to degree level, you'll already have experience of developing and delivering learning programmes, ideally within a museum or heritage environment.
• With previous experience delivering a learning strategy against organisational objectives you will be highly motivated and driven to grow our operations alongside your own skills.
• Organised and pro-active, with lots of initiative and an ability to work at pace, you'll juggle a varied workload, effectively balancing strategic and operational priorities.
• A confident and experienced people manager, you're able to lead, develop and inspire an ambitious team with an empathetic and caring style.
• At your best working as part of a team, you have an open and collaborative style. And as a confident communicator, you're able to build relationships with internal and external colleagues alike.
• You will also be knowledgeable in all aspects of safeguarding, as well as familiar with evaluation and reporting methods.
• With a customer focus, you'll be keen to utilise feedback to improve our reach. |
