The National Gallery has a vacancy for a Head of Principal Gifts.
Working closely with the Director of Development, the Head of Principal Gifts will develop and implement successful fundraising strategies to raise seven to eight figure gifts from some of the world’s most generous philanthropists.
To achieve this, the job holder will build and manage a portfolio of donors and help drive forward specific fundraising initiatives, including working with senior staff, the Director, Chair and Trustees.
This is a permanent, full time position. |

| Required Skills / Qualifications |
| |
• Demonstrable significant major gifts fundraising, including proven success in personally securing seven figure gifts in the UK and/or internationally whilst working on substantial fundraising campaigns.
• A very high level of literary communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proven management experience in a complex organisation, with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills, a collaborative management style and experience of successfully leading and motivating staff in a proactive and positive manner.
• Excellent social skills and cultural understanding.
• A proven ability to work well under pressure in a complex and demanding environment.
• The capacity to apply innovative and practical problem-solving skills to the challenges at hand.
• The ability to think strategically.
• The ability to be highly opportunistic and to take initiatives of your own accord when the situation demands it. |
