Are you looking for the opportunity to develop your career in archives working hands-on with unseen material documenting iconic names and events 1960s music? Do you want to gain experience in communicating archive material and research with the public?

Handel Hendrix House is seeking an archivist to catalogue, research and oversee the conservation and digitisation of an archive of around 1,000 items that promises to offer fascinating insight into the life and work of Jimi Hendrix and other iconic names in 1960s music.

This substantial, high-impact fixed-term position (16 months) will play a key-role in conserving, understanding and sharing recently acquired archival material of Anim Records. The archive includes material related to Jimi Hendrix and the Jimi Hendrix Experience and other groups managed by Anim Records in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

This role is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to acquire this archive and will be able to preserve and share this record of music history with our audiences.

  Required Skills / Qualifications
An appropriate qualification in archive management, such as a level 7 ARA archives apprenticeship

Previous experience of working with archive materials and an understanding of recognised standards and ethics for conservation, storage, cataloguing and access

A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively with others in a small interdisciplinary team

Experience of sharing archives with the public

Experience of working within agreed budgets and timelines

Experience of briefing and liaising with contractors
