About the Project:
We are seeking 2 Collection Review Managers to fully understand and catalogue the Museum Collection for the Royal Borough of Greenwich. This will include the development of a new Collections Policy, identifying key aspects of the collection that are relevant to the policy and ensuring it is fully catalogued. They will then assess the options of deaccessioning, relocations or redistributions. This is an 18-month project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF).

They will report to a project manager and be supported by the existing team and volunteers at the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust, who manage the Collection.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the creation and implementation of a long-term Collections Strategy, in line with the objectives of the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
• Ensure the collection is relevant, manageable and representative supporting public engagement and long-term stewardship.
• Catalogue the Collection.
• To lead and deliver a structured programme of Collections transition activities in support of museum’s redevelopment, ensuring the safe, ethical and documented movement, review and potential disposal of collection items in accordance with best practice and national standards.
• Develop, deliver and report on a comprehensive Collections transition plan, aligned to key project milestones.
• Manage resources, timelines and risks related to Collections movement, storage, and documentation.
• Maintain clear project documentation and contribute to evaluation, impact reporting, and NLHF requirements.
• To work effectively with the team at RGHT and volunteers.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Professional qualifications in Museum and Collection Management or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Museum Policy, MA Code of Ethics, Spectrum Procedures and Accreditation.
• Track record of developing and implementing successful Collection Strategies.
• Previous involvement in heritage or cultural projects, preferably NLHF-funded.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of collections care, conservation and environmental planning.

Desirable:
• Experience of leading a major collections transformation project.
• Experience of diverse communities to shape collections.
• Understanding of sector-wide debates on decolonisation, repatriation and inclusive collecting.
