About Us
The Royal Air Force Museum is as a national museum, a Government non departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity.

We have two public sites in the Midlands and London and a stored collection at Stafford. Our purpose is to share the RAF story - past, present and future - using the stories of its people and our collections to engage, inform and inspire.

Our vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story - the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

Our museum commitments are the golden thread that run through everything that we do. These are:

• Health and Wellbeing
• Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
• Sustainability

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Collections Logistics Officer to join the Museum team at an exciting time as we progress our Strategy to 2030 and continue the development phase of a National Lottery Heritage Fund supported programme of investment at our Midlands site.

You will assist with object movement, hazard identification and the administration of these tasks, as we prepare our collections to move to a new publicly accessible storage facility. Individual responsibilities will include being a forklift truck operator and a Radiation Protection Supervisor, training for both of which can be provided.

This role will be based at our Stafford site and will work across all three Museum sites as required.

Working elsewhere in the UK and abroad may be necessary.

The role is available as a 2-year fixed term contract.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
• Experience of working with and developing publicly accessible collections in a museum or heritage environment.
• Practical experience of managing hazards in museum collections, such as asbestos, PCBs, mould, etc.
• Experience of handling, moving, packing and transporting a variety of museum objects, including large and complex items.
• Experience of implementing risk management procedures and using Collections Management procedures and systems.
• Qualified forklift truck driver (or willingness to train as such).
• Qualified Radiation Protection Supervisor (or willingness to train as such).
• Holds a current driving licence and has a willingness to drive hire vehicles, including vans, to support Museum activities.
