Job Description:
Position: National Programmes Developer
Salary: £29,382 per annum

About Us
The Natural History Museum is both a world-leading science research centre and the most visited natural history museum in Europe. With a vision of a future in which both people and the planet thrive, it is uniquely positioned to be a powerful champion for balancing humanity’s needs with those of the natural world. Our programmes reach beyond the museum sites and engage millions through national and global initiatives.

National Programmes play a significant role in enabling the museum to achieve its ambition to engage and involve the widest possible audience. Through our partnerships and collaborative projects, we aim to build a thriving future for people and planet by connecting communities, museums and collections across the UK to real world societal and environmental challenges.

One such programme over the coming years will aim to build an urban nature movement by expanding the reach and impact of The Urban Nature Project for audiences across the UK. With our Real World Science partners, we will build scientific skills, increase engagement with citizen science and support outdoor learning that helps to understand and protect urban nature.

We are at a pivotal moment in our history as we launch a new strategy setting out our role as the natural world faces increasing threats. Building on our world-leading collection, global reputation for science and as one of the world’s leading visitor attractions, this a truly exciting time to be part of the NHM team.

About the role
You will be central to the delivery of our ambitious programmes, by developing and piloting initiatives and content that find innovative ways of engaging new audiences particularly relating to citizen science and youth participation.

Working in partnership with community, wildlife, cultural organisations and others will be essential to the success of this role. In addition, you will work closely with several departments within the museum to strengthen the activity and its reach, in particular the Urban Nature Project (UNP) team, Learning and Audiences, Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity (AMC) and the Digital, Communication and Marketing team.

About you
You will have experience of developing science and nature related content for delivery in engagement programmes that aim to widen participation. You will also have the ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to maximise the reach and impact of programmes.

Experience of developing inclusive learning programmes, youth participation, citizen science projects and associated evaluation is desirable.
