Job Description:
It's conserving a magnificent history that will be enjoyed by future generations.

It's working with a shared and unique purpose, and it's caring for and presenting one of the world's largest art collections. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so different.

The Royal Collection contains an unparalleled collection of approximately 40,000 drawings and watercolours, 100,000 prints, 4,400 maps and plans, 450,000 photographs and 3,000 miniatures.

Our team of talented Paper Conservators are responsible for all conservation activities relating to preserving and sharing these collections.

Based at our studios in Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace, you'll conserve the collection through preventative and interventive measures, employing a range of techniques.

You’ll coordinate conservation and preservation projects for storage and display within the Royal residences, as well as working with colleagues across the department to plan and co-ordinate condition surveys and treatments to support our loans and exhibitions programme.

Everyday your expertise will be relied upon as you immerse yourself in this fascinating collection. You’ll provide specialist advice and training to colleagues and students, sharing your knowledge as well as your enthusiasm.

The variety of work will challenge you and you'll aim to excel in all that you do. But knowing that you're helping to preserve an exceptional collection that will be enjoyed by future generations will be your greatest reward.

With a post-graduate qualification in Paper Conservation (or equivalent experience) and practical experience in the conservation of works on paper, including photographs and the treatment of historically framed works on paper.

Your organised and methodical approach to work will be vital, and you'll be able to coordinate and prioritise tasks and projects in order to meet multiple deadlines.

Perceptive with great problem-solving skills, we can rely on you to take initiative, assess situations, and make decisions when needed.

You're an excellent communicator and will enjoy working alongside and engaging with people at all levels and from a wide range of technical disciplines.

Digitally literate, you’re able to use databases and Excel to support your work.

Above all, you're passionate about works of art on paper and are driven to maintain the very highest standards of care in all that you do.

This is your opportunity to take your skills to the next level and help to deliver the exceptional.
