  Job Description
The Royal Armouries has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced manager to play a key role in our Public Engagement Team. In this post you will manage, develop and deliver unique, world-class projects, programmes and resources for formal learners of all ages with dedicated teams at our museum in Leeds, at Fort Nelson in Hampshire, and online.

We care for one of the world’s oldest museum collections, presented at our headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, at our historic home in the Tower of London, and at the Victorian Fort Nelson near Portsmouth. The Formal Learning Manager’s role is to help bring this national, iconic collection of arms and armour to life in an on-site and online programme that combines costumed, historic live interpretation, process drama, storytelling and play to deliver an outstanding learning-outside-the-classroom experience

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or will have equivalent recent experience of successfully managing complex, multi-site physical and digital programmes for a range of formal learning audiences, and will be up for a challenge!

If you are an exciting, versatile communicator with a passion for museum education and recent experience of managing programmes for a range of formal learning audiences in a heritage context; we would like to hear from you.

An Enhanced Disclosure and other security checks will be requested in the event of a successful application. However, a criminal record would not necessarily be a bar to employment. Any decision made would depend upon the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of the offence.
