  Job Description
Conservation Manager
Permanent
Full-time
London
£32,897.45 per annum

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Cosford. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future - using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our overall vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

We are looking for an experienced Conservation Manager to join the Museum team at an exciting time as we progress our Strategy to 2030.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a part of our Collections Services team of paid staff and volunteers.

You will manage the development and delivery of conservation projects and facilities at our London site as well as a range of activities to ensure the preservation of collections while promoting wider public access to the RAF story and volunteer engagement.

We are looking for someone with a relevant preventive conservation qualification or demonstrable experience in managing conservation in a museum or heritage environment. You will also have a comprehensive understanding of conservation and collections management standards, collections emergency planning, salvage and recovery.

The post will be based at our London site. Some evening and weekend working and some travel between Museum sites and to borrowing institutions in the UK and overseas will be required.
