Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project is the client of AMS International, and we are currently seeking a Curator - Exhibitions & Collections Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project for this upcoming modern and contemporary art museum in Abu Dhabi, UAE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 8 years of curatorial experience in 20th-century and/or contemporary art with expert knowledge of private collections and the art market.
• Proven experience in working in international contexts; interest in cultural diplomacy.
• Proven knowledge of professional museum practices, including the realization of collection exhibitions, history of scholarship and publications related to modern or contemporary art; and experience in project fundraising, collection development and planning, and exhibition programming.
• Experience working with museum membership groups and patron committees, managing junior colleagues.
• Verbal and written fluency in English and Arabic/ Persian/French/ or German preferred.
• Proficiency with database software (The Museum System “TMS” preferred) and Microsoft Office software.
• Excellent communication skills, written and interpersonal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Research, propose, and develop temporary and touring exhibitions with dedicated scholarly publications as well as site-specific installations and commissions as a part of the opening exhibitions programs, and will produce associated didactic, website, and educational texts.
Secondary to its role as a key player in exhibitions and commissions planning and implementation, this position will contribute to the acquisitions process as needed by proposing artworks, writing curatorial reports and other related documents, and participating in collection strategy discussions.

• Coordinate with conservators on the analysis and implementation of the long-term maintenance of all commission works. In addition, this position will support the Deputy Project Director and the Associate Director, Education and Community Engagement, with pre-opening and opening education, public programs, and community engagement initiatives for Abu Dhabi and the greater region.

• Represent the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi in the regional art and academic community with an aim to advance the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi’s curatorial presence at regional and international events.
 
EDUCATION:
• M.A. in Art History or the equivalent
• Ph.D. or advanced in Art History or related field with a concentration in 20th Century and /or contemporary art. Knowledge of pre-20th Century and/or non-western cultures is beneficial, particularly the art of the Middle East.
