  Job Description
The Story Museum, a unique and magical visitor attraction in the heart of Oxford, is looking for a blue sky thinker to be its new CEO/Director. If you are a decisive, strategic leader and creative problem solver with a track record of business growth and a broad knowledge of the arts and education, we want to hear from you.

Founded in 2005, The Story Museum is a charity with the mission to enrich young lives through stories, in response to the clear need to improve literacy and creativity amongst the children and young people of Oxfordshire.

The Story Museum has welcomed over 300,000 visitors since its reopening in 2021 after a major £6million capital redevelopment. Visitors can let their imagination run free in the immersive story-led galleries and at themed events.

This amazing public space has a mixed income enterprise model, with a successful café and shop supplementing its primary Box Office income from public and school tickets, along with a growing venue hire business. Alongside these earned income streams, fundraising enables the Museum to deliver free and heavily subsidised imaginative learning experiences, bringing stories to life for adults and children in target areas across Oxfordshire and beyond.

As the incoming CEO, you will play a pivotal role in the governance, financial modelling and stakeholder engagement to write The Story Museum’s next breathtaking chapter.

If you are inspired by the idea of leading a unique organisation with a powerful charitable mission, we look forward to hearing from you.
