  Job Description
It's helping to protect and preserve some of the nation’s most treasured paintings. It’s ensuring the future of a remarkable collection, cared for with dedication and precision. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so special.

The Royal Collection contains an unparalleled collection of nearly 8,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures. Our team of talented Paintings Conservators are responsible for all conservation activities relating to the paintings displayed within the Royal residences, as well for loans from the Paintings collection.

As a Senior Conservator you will deputise for the Head of Paintings Conservation and support the overall management of the conservation studio as well as assessing and conserving paintings using the most appropriate methods and materials.

Key Responsibilities:
• To support and guide conservation staff, freelancers and interns through challenging and varied work programmes, ensuring deadlines are met and all work is produced to the highest standards.
• To support and deputise for the Head of Paintings Conservation in the management and organisation of the conservation studio, planning and delivery of projects and all conservation activities in support of RCT aims and objectives.
• To conserve, clean and restore paintings, supported by art historical research, technical and scientific analysis.
• To ensure that the collections are preserved and maintained to the highest standards employing the most appropriate methods and materials.
• To provide specialist advice across the Royal Household on conservation policy and practice, including appropriate storage and display requirements.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
• With extensive practical experience and expertise within the field of paintings conservation, you will have proven abilities in research, producing scholarly publications and in developing external professional networks.
• You will have demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise, manage and deliver work programmes
• With excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to team working, you will have experience of staff management and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• And with your excellent IT skills you will have wide experience in the use of collection management databases, spreadsheets, and image processing
