About the role
Based at Kensington Palace with occasional working across all HRP sites

We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.

We are seeking a fulltime Assistant Curator (Collections) to join a team of research-led curators to help deliver an ambitious programme of public engagement, conservation and infrastructure projects at Kensington Palace and occasionally at other palaces. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across Historic Royal Palaces, to help research and share the story of our six palaces and the people whose lives helped shape them. The special focus of this role will be supporting the curator to manage and maintain the displays at Kensington Palace and providing research for the temporary exhibitions and displays.

Benefits include:
• Hybrid working - potentially a minimum of 3 days in the office per week with some flexibility for home working on an ad-hoc basis
• Enhanced holiday entitlement
• Generous Employers Pension Contributions (up to 11%)
• Annual Pay reviews & Bonuses
• Critical Illness Cover & Life Assurance
• Family friendly policies and benefits
• Staff catering discounts and membership to all palaces
• Travel expenses between other HRP sites and off-site

About you
You will be passionate about British royal history and collections, experienced working with archival sources and confident in your ability to communicate your knowledge to a wide variety of different audiences. We are looking for someone who has experience researching and caring for historic collections, championing underrepresented histories and communities and supporting the development of exhibitions and displays in line with best practice. You will enjoy working on multiple projects with competing priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading heritage organization in one of the most iconic historic buildings in the country and develop your expertise and experience working alongside a creative and talented team. The person specification provides more detail on the knowledge and experience we think will help make a candidate successful in this role. It is likely there are areas within the person specification you fit well, and those you don’t. You will be supported to learn and develop if there are some gaps in your knowledge or experience. If you think you might be a good fit for this role, we encourage you to apply.
