  Job Description
As Sustainability Officer, you will be part of the team charged with leading the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao’s environmental transformation:

• You will work in close cooperation with experts and help expand the measurement of the Museum’s carbon footprint to include all its operations, by collecting the data required and setting the applicable measurement criteria.
• You will contribute to identifying and implementing indicators for defining the consumption reduction goals for energy and raw materials, as well as furthering the processes of recycling and circularity.
• You will help improve the current system to monitor fulfilment of the goals set in the Museum’s Annual Sustainability Action Plan and generate periodic reports that reflect the real impact of the actions taken.
• You will participate in designing and implementing an offset project in the region in collaboration with local, institutional, and corporate partners with the ultimate goal of achieving the Museum’s carbon neutrality by 2030.
• You will work with people from Museum departments, such as Conservation, Curatorial, Education, Facilities, Finance, etc., which will give you the chance to develop a range of skills and experiences. These may include feasibility studies on replacing fossil fuels with other materials in the Museum’s HVAC systems or implementing sustainability criteria in future exhibition design practices.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
• Ability to make effective contacts with public and private institutions associated with environmental or cultural matters.
• Special sensitivity towards the world of art or museums, along with a genuine interest in promoting positive change from a sustainable perspective.
• Clear commitment to participate in a temporary yet transformative project in the Museum for two full years.
• Strong skills in strategic planning and efficient organization of complex tasks related to environmental management.
• Ability to work cooperatively within multidisciplinary teams, fostering interpersonal relationships based on mutual respect, inclusion, and equality.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills geared at conveying clear messages about sustainability to different internal/external audiences.
• Creativity applied to collaboratively solving specific environmental challenges in the museum sector.
