Job Description |
|
Sandycombe Lodge in Twickenham (“Turner’s House”) is a Grade 2* listed house designed and lived in by J.M.W. Turner. It has been open to the public as an independent museum since 2017.
We are looking for a person with heritage experience to be our Public Engagement and Volunteers Manager, managing Turner’s House’s Learning and Volunteer Programmes, implementing its marketing plans and supporting its operations to ensure the smooth running of the House.
Turner’s House is open to the public 5 days a week, Wednesday-Sunday, 12 noon-4pm, with an annual closure period typically from November to January. The House is also open for educational visits, and for private evening events on a limited number of days each year. The Public Engagement & Volunteer Manager will work on a rota with the Operations Manager and Museum Director to ensure the House is staffed whenever the House is open. Although some remote working may be possible, attendance at the House on working days will normally be required. Some weekend working will be required.
The Public Engagement & Volunteer Manager leads the Turner’s House volunteer programme and public engagement activities. The postholder will ensure an excellent visitor experience by supporting and developing the volunteer team, delivering a lively programme of events and workshops, and building partnerships with community and wellbeing organisations and local schools and colleges. |
