The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. We have two public sites (London and Midlands) and a stored collection (Stafford). Our trading company and active fundraising supplement Grant in Aid which comes through the Ministry of Defence.
The Royal Air Force Museum is a Carbon Literate organisation and as such promotes Carbon Literacy.
The Royal Air Force Museum is looking for an Aircraft Technician – Airframe to join the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre (MBCC) team on a 2-year fixed term contract.
The role includes caring for and maintaining the aircraft and other large objects across three Museum sites, on outward loan and through other events. This role consists of, but is not limited to, aircraft stripping and building, road transportation, checking and advising on the status of aircraft systems, preventative care and safety checks.
The person must have an engineering (mechanical) qualification and knowledge of and be compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Individual responsibilities include being a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS, training provided) and supervision of volunteers.
The role will be based at the Midlands site, with travel to other Museum sites, for multiple nights and consecutive weeks, as and when required. |

• Mechanical engineering qualification to technician level
• Demonstrable experience in the maintenance, care, restoration, repair, handling, movement and transportation of aircraft and other large objects |
