  Job Description
It's helping to protect and preserve some of the nation’s most treasured items.

And it’s contributing to the care and understanding of a remarkable collection. That’s what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so special.

The Prints and Drawings section of Royal Collection Trust is responsible for more than 40,000 drawings and watercolours and 100,000 prints, within the Print Room at Windsor Castle and across the royal residences. While the great majority of this material is catalogued on RCT’s database, new material continues to be added, and the existing records are in continual need of improvement and updating.

As a Collections Cataloguer, you’ll help document this extraordinary collection, ensuring the Collections Management database has every item recorded accurately. In all you do, you will support the team by improving practical documentation that underpins the care, display and accessibility of the Collection.

Key Responsibilities:
• To catalogue newly accessioned prints and drawings, producing accurate and searchable records that meet RCT standards.
• To review and improve existing database records, ensuring consistency and clarity.
• To ensure the locations of items are accurately recorded and tracked, coordinating updates for items on the move.
• To travel to different locations as required to undertake on-site cataloguing and inventory checks, liaising with curatorial and conservation colleagues.
• To support the preparation of photographic sessions, working with curatorial colleagues, the Picture Library and photographers to prepare and assemble items for imaging.
• To assist with the planning and execution of transfers between sites, preparing schedules of material to be moved and liaising with conservators, technicians and project teams to safeguard objects during transit.
• To assist curators, conservators and wider RCT colleagues by responding to enquiries and providing reliable information for loans, displays and research.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
• You will have an keen interest in prints and drawings, as well as a broad grounding in art history.
• You will have excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data entry and record improvement.
• You will possess strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, accessible catalogue and web content.
• You will have good computer literacy, with an ability to work with image and database systems.
• With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you can work collaboratively within a small team, as well as with stakeholders across the organisation.
• You will be able to plan, prioritise and manage your own workload, solving problems independently and meeting deadlines without close supervision.
