  Job Description
Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library exploring health and human experience, where you can enjoy exhibitions, museum and library collections, public events, and a vibrant shop and café. We also publish books and online stories.

This is a great time to join Wellcome Collection as we embark on an exciting period of change. Wellcome Collection has recently introduced a new ten-year strategy, and this role will play an important part in bringing to life our vision of a world where everyone’s experience of health matters.

Wellcome Collection is part of Wellcome Trust, a global charitable foundation that supports science to build a healthier future for everyone. Wellcome Trust plans to spend 16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

We are looking for a Curator – Interpretation to join our curatorial team on a permanent basis.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will join the curatorial team, in the Curatorial and Public Practice department at Wellcome Collection, working on interpretation for our exhibitions and displays. Working with the curatorial and production teams you will develop an inclusive and consistent interpretation approach to enable meaningful and accessible experiences for all our audiences.

Wellcome Collection’s exhibitions explore the past, present and future of health, bringing together a diverse range of voices, material and ideas. You will bring your specialist knowledge of interpretation to our groundbreaking exhibition programme for our museum based on Euston Road, in London.

What will I be doing?
As Curator – Interpretation you will work across the curatorial team, and in close partnership with project managers, to deliver accessible interpretation for our exhibitions. This will include working with curators on written exhibition interpretation as well as liaising with external stakeholders to develop a range of accessible tools for our audiences.

We are looking for someone who can:
• Develop accessible interpretation content for Wellcome Collection exhibitions, including written exhibition text, Audio Description, British Sign Language (BSL) resources and visual stories.
• Ensure consistency and attention to detail in our interpretation approach and delivery, enabling meaningful and accessible experiences for our priority audiences.
• Oversee the production of interpretation assets, working closely with the exhibition delivery team.
• Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

Is this job for me?
We are looking for someone who is committed to developing engaging and accessible interpretation for our audiences. You will be able to translate complex ideas into clear and inclusive interpretation for a wide range of visitors. Strong writing and editing skills are essential, as well as the ability to design and deliver interpretation in various media and work with people with a range of different skills and backgrounds.

To apply for this role please submit an update CV and answer 2 application questions to demonstrate that you meet the minimum requirements for the role.

Minimum Criteria:
• Has experience of developing interpretation in a museum, gallery or cultural context
• Demonstrates a commitment to producing accessible interpretation
• Has strong written and verbal skills to communicate complex ideas.
• Has worked with a range of creative stakeholders.
